We all know that girl who always has a boyfriend: she’s always settled down with someone, and if not, she’s definitely looking.

Other girls, however, are pretty happy living the single life. Single and fabulous, as Samantha Jones once preached. This perpetually single gal is a rare breed of woman; she’s independent and fierce, and has been ridin’ solo for a while now.

Before shackin’ up with this badass chick, there are some things you should know about the person she has become over her single years:

1. She isn’t single because nobody wants her.

She isn’t the unwanted or overlooked of the crew; she simply hasn’t found anyone who she wants to be serious with yet. She is selective, and this means that if you’ve started dating her, you’ve made the cut.

2. She’s not needy.

She knows how to function independently and she won’t be calling you 24/7 for updates on where you are, who you’re with, and whatcha doin.

3. She’s strong.

She has been fired, fought with friends, and lost loved ones – all without a boyfriend to cry to. She has walked through the storm alone and survived it, and she’ll know how to be there for you when you need it too.

4. She wants you to have your own friends.

She likes going out for girls night or staying in sometimes on her own, and she’ll encourage you to socialize without her. She has a life, and she wants you to have one too.

5. She understands and respects privacy.

This one is your phone; that one is hers. There’s no need to see every text you send, and there certainly isn’t a reason to share passwords for every account with each other.

6. She can go it alone.

Because she’s been hangin’ solo for so long, not only has she gotten used to spending time alone, but she actually really enjoys it. She understand the importance of space and she’ll give it to you when you need it too.

7. And she likes feeling self-sufficient.

Chances are, she’ll pay for things herself and be able to change a light bulb on her own. Perpetually single gals are independent enough to know how to do things, and dating her certainly won’t drain your bank account.

8. She doesn’t need someone to complete her; she wants someone to inspire her.

She is looking for a man to motivate and encourage her to be better; not someone who she can’t live without. She doesn’t need you; she wants you.
